The following students attended Ventura County Office of Education’s Hackathon by the Sea on December 6 and 7. CI students, along with 200 students from the County, were learning about coding, virtual reality, soldering, and gaming. All students got a minimum of 3 hours sleep. Huang Min Lin, Francine Mina, Deegan Villanueva, Isaac Vazquez, Rustico De La Cruz, Leandro Mendoza, and Narciso Garcia Jr. Their reward for attending was a extra-credit points from their English Teacher, Ms. Rousseau.
After the rains, Ms. Rousseau’s Class took the opportunity to help out plant and clean the Raider Garden. Ms. Allie and Ms. Anna were there to guide the students.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2019 Peer Resource took a trip to Camp Ramah in Ojai for Leadership training. Students went through a ropes course to learn how to overcome their fears and learn how to help others in difficult situations.
Counselors are continuing to meet with seniors at risk of not graduating by monitoring their progress on credit recovery options such as Edgenuity, Work Experience, and ROP courses. Meetings are being scheduled with parents if progress is not made.
Counselors are continuing to support students with different components of their college application process. We are assisting students with the Common Application, FAFSA/Dream Act Application, letters of recommendation for scholarships and programs such as EOP.
