CIHS Weekly Update 3.22.19

Society of Women Engineers San Buenaventura Section

Congratulations to Gabriela Chavez and Elizabeth Razo for being recognized at the SWE awards.

Swim

A select number of varsity swimmers have been busting their Speedo-clad tails this week, doing full workouts in the morning, and racing in the afternoon. And they have been doing great! Varsity girls and Varsity boys will each swim in the consolation finals for their medley relays and 200 free relays. All four of the relays dropped time in prelims to move up from their seed time.

And for the first time EVER, we have a swimmer who made it to FINALS (top 8) in an individual event. Ivan Romero secured a spot in the finals by dropping almost two second in his 100 fly…no surprise, it’s a new SCHOOL RECORD! The previous record, set in 2011, by Adrian Rodriguez in a time of 1:00.38 was lowered yesterday to a 59.76. Needless to say, I’m very excited to see how they do today.

Counseling

Counselors began with In-House Registration this week. They will be meeting with each individual student in grades 9-11 during their Math class where they will be helping students select courses for the 2019-20 school year. Counselors will also be going over credit and A-G recovery options, summer school, CEC courses and camps for summer school and the following school year.
