CIHS Updates – 03.16.18

Observance against school violence

I would like to send out a big congratulations and a thank you to CIHS ASB.  They orchestrated a very meaningful and moving observance against school violence this morning.  The program of music, student speeches and original student poetry was excellent and moved to the heart of the issue we all face.  The CIHS student body was absorbed into the program and listened with rapt attention to their peers and a representative from the County Supervisors (for John Zaragoza).  I was so proud of the ASB for the program and the entire CIHS student body for their meaningful engagement.  I was very moved by the experience.  A big thanks to all involved, and to our staff for coming out and participating with your students.  Raider Strong!

Marine Science Academy

We were invited to bring a few students to the inaugural Sustainable VC Event hosted by VC Innovates and Ventura County Office of Education. The event was held at the Oxnard Advanced Water Treatment Facility on Perkins Road. Students were given a tour of the facility, presented their solution to an environmental issue, networked with professionals in environmental, technology, automotive, and industrial fields (SoCal Gas, SoCal Edison, CA Resources Corporation, and BMW (just to name a few), sit in and play with the latest electric vehicles (BMW, Tesla, Mercedes, etc), and participate in an Entrée to Employment luncheon.
