Employees of the Quarter 

Congratulations to Mr. David Corona and Mr. Fernando Calzada for being selected Employees of the 3rd Quarter.  Thank you for everything you do for our students.

Studio Art AP students visit California State University Channel Islands

Last Thursday, the Studio Art AP Design students took a photo-shoot field trip to California State University Channel Islands to explore their mix of their old Spanish style buildings and modern styled library. These photographs will eventually become part of the students’ Studio Art AP portfolio.

Meet and Greet with Officer McCready

On Friday, February 23, 2018 SRO McCready had a meet and greet with students in Mr. Cammack’s class. Students were able to ask Officer McCready questions about her profession and received neat badge stickers.
 

Early Academic Outreach Program

Early Academic Outreach Program offer a one day SAT Academy on Saturday, February 10th for student to prepare for the upcoming SAT. The academy allowed students to have a better understanding of the SAT and students learned strategies to help them move through the questions faster.
 
EAOP College Coordinator Griselda Sanchez presented to all seniors very important information regarding financial aid; how to apply, how much aid students can received, deadline to apply and inform students of the different incentives students who complete their F.A application will have. Also, in the presentation students receive information regarding community college. Student learn about the matriculation process to the different community colleges and the different educational options available for them at a CC. Special thanks to all the English teachers that provided the time and space for this to happen.
 
EAOP College Coordinators and the counselors presented to all juniors this week. The presentation consisted of an overview of the HS graduation requirements, inform students of the different opportunities available to make up credit. Also, the students had the opportunity to learn how to evaluate their transcript for A-G requirements and calculate their UC/CSU GPA. All students received information on importance of doing well on the SAT next March, and information on how to sign up for the SAT/ACT.


EAOP College Coordinator Griselda Sanchez provided several workshop at lunch for EAO seniors on “ Understanding an Award Letter”. In the workshop students had the opportunity to learn about how financial aid is awarded based on cost of attendance and expected family contribution. They also learn about the difference between gift aid and self help aid.

Counseling Corner

The Counseling Dept and UCSB EAOP Rep. Mrs. Sanchez held the last Financial Ed Workshop for this year’s graduating seniors on Thursday, February 22, 2018. They were assisted by our community college Financial Ed Reps.
 

Teacher Corner

This week students in Mrs. Schoenmann’s PEII Class are learning the game of Ultimate.  It is a new game for most students.  The game has a very fast pace, with explosive action, using a lot of energy.  The students are very excited to play the game because it is something new, and fun to play.
