Marching Raiders receive a Grand Sweepstakes performance award
CIHS music students represented our community well at their 10/7 event. Led by Drum Major Marcuss Jackson, the Marching Raiders recently enjoyed a Grand Sweepstakes performance award from the Moorpark Country Days Parade. Included with the group were Drumline and Banners Squads. Let’s celebrate a great victory for Channel Island High School’s “Tsunami of Sound” Raider Band!
Look for Raider Band performances at the UCLA vs. Oregon State game on 10/21 followed by CIHS Homecoming game on 10/27.

Boys water polo went to Garden Grove High School last weekend to compete in a tournament. The team went to 2-2 beating Rancho HS and Warren HS. Coach Atwater is very proud of the young team because they offensively woke-up and scored many goals. Congrats on the two wins!
Cross country competed in the PVL race number two yesterday and both teams were successful. The girls, led by Lisbet Alvarez, finished 3rd place as a team with Lizbet finishing 4th overall. This finish sets them up for a run to go CIF, if they finish top 3 again. The boys continued their dominance, finishing 1st as a team. The overall individual winner for the boys’ varsity was again Ricky Torres.
Girls Volleyball had two tough matches this week. They went against OHS and PHS. Although they lost last night to Pacifica, all the sets were very close (25-20, 25-23 and 26-24).
Football is off their bye and will play Pacifica at PHS. After a tough last minute lost to Simi Valley (21-27), the boys are ready to redeem themselves against the Tritons. If any staff members are interested in attending a game, all PVL games are free +1 for OUHSD staff. You must show your staff ID at the gates.
