Carrillo just completed his first semester at University of California, Berkeley, where he is a mechanical engineering major. At CI, Carrillo played football and baseball; he was a 4-year member of CSF and Future Leaders of America; and he completed about 200 hours of community service. During his talk, he gave the AVID students advice about being competitive for college, applying to college and getting financial aid. He also shared his experiences at Berkeley, talking about dorm life, his roommates, the challenging academics and developing independence.
